Marilyn Ocker has been teaching theatre in high school and middle school for 33 years. After receiving her BFA with an emphasis in acting and directing, from SFASU, she started teaching high school at Columbia High in Brazoria County from 1990 - 96. In those years, she won at every level of competition at UILOAP from Zone to Region, receiving alternate to state in 1995, then after getting married and moving to Houston, she taught theatre and speech at Thornton middle school in Cy Fair ISD for 9 years before moving on to Cypress Creek High school for 8 years. She made 2 state UIL appearances in 2008 and 2011 . In 2014, Mrs. Ocker went back to middle school in Humble ISD for 2 years at Timberwood middle school before joining Spring ISD at Dueitt middle school for the 2016 - 17 school year. She has been a certified UIL adjudicator, judging zones, districts, and bi - district contests as well as middle school UIL competitions for the last few years. She has also been a professional actress for over 10 years working primarily at Texas Repertory Theatre in Northwest Houston. Marilyn has been married to her husband Sean for 27 years, and they have three children. Conor 23, a junior transferring to Sam Houston State University , Kieran 20, a Supervisor at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown and Quinn 18 a recent graduate of Klein High school and musician Marilyn loves to travel and has taken students on trips to London, New York, Italy, Ireland, Wales, Switzerland, Germany, and other amazing journeys. Marilyn is very excited to be working with high school students, looks forward to helping reach their full potential creating realistic characters, stretching their scope of talent, and ultimately making audiences think.

"Mr. James Hoag is so excited to join the Lion Players Theatre Company this year! He was born and raised in Dallas, Texas until he moved to Austin, Texas for college and is now happy to call Spring his home. Mr. Hoag has just graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre Education. This is Mr. Hoag's first year teaching and he has been doing theatre his whole life. Starting out acting in church plays in his hometown and eventually continuing in high school where he developed his passion for technical theatre. He is thrilled to share his skills and expertise with our program and our students! Make sure to introduce yourself- he'd love to meet all of our supporters and patrons!"
